All staff returning to Nacogdoches ISD will receive a $2,400 stipend during the 2021-22 school year, Superintendent Dr. Gabriel Trujillo announced Friday during the district’s virtual convocation.
The stipend will be distributed in two installments of $1,200 – in November and in June 2022, Trujillo said.
All district employees who were with NISD last year and returned for this school year are eligible for the stipend.
“I’m not saying our new staff isn’t as important, but after a year like we had last year I wanted to recognize the staff who’ve made a conscious decision to return to Nacogdoches ISD,” Trujillo said. “Those folks who cut the lawn, those folks who work in the cafeteria, those folks who are custodians, making sure the buildings are clean, driving the buses, the aides who are on the playgrounds and providing one-on-one instruction, and the teachers that we have, and the administrators that we have that have come back. They went through the full year of the unknown.
“Thank you for coming back to Nacogdoches ISD and because you made this decision to come back to Nacogdoches ISD the school board and I are reaching out to you and saying ‘Thank you with this one-time incentive.”
