Dear Nacogdoches ISD Families and Staff,
I want to address the recent federal directives from President Trump regarding immigration enforcement on school properties that are causing concern for some of our students and their families.
First, I want you to know that the safety, well-being, and success of every student in Nacogdoches ISD remains our highest priority. It is my highest priority, and the overriding goal of public education. I am here – and Nacogdoches ISD is here – to support you.
Let me reassure you of some important facts:
Every child – every child – is welcome in Nacogdoches ISD. This isn’t just me saying this; it’s the law. We gladly enroll and educate all school-aged students living within our attendance boundaries, regardless of immigration status. Once again, it’s the law.
We do not request information about or track immigration status of students enrolled at Nacogdoches ISD. Your child’s personal information is protected… once again, by law (20 U.S. Education Code § 1232g).
Nacogdoches ISD’s commitment to our students and their families has not changed. While we will continue to monitor ongoing updates from federal and state authorities, our focus remains steadfastly where it most belongs – on providing a safe and supportive learning environment for all (policy GRA LOCAL).
Additionally, our visitor and student check-out procedures remain the same (policy GKC LEGAL). No one is allowed access to a student unless they are listed in the student’s file or have a properly and lawfully documented federal court order or warrant signed by a federal judge. We also continue to work closely with local law enforcement partners to ensure we are prepared to support any affected students.

Queridas familias y personal del Distrito Escolar Independiente de Nacogdoches,
Quiero dirigirme a ustedes respecto a las recientes directivas federales del presidente Trump sobre la aplicación de leyes de inmigración en propiedades escolares, las cuales han generado preocupación en algunos de nuestros estudiantes y sus familias.
En primer lugar, quiero que sepan que la seguridad, el bienestar y el éxito de cada estudiante en Nacogdoches ISD siguen siendo nuestra máxima prioridad. Es mi máxima prioridad y el objetivo fundamental de la educación pública. Estoy aquí—y Nacogdoches ISD está aquí—para apoyarlos.
Permítanme reafirmar algunos puntos clave:
Cada niño/a—cada niño/a—son bienvenidos en Nacogdoches ISD. Esto no es solo una afirmación, es la ley. Con gusto inscribimos y educamos a todos los estudiantes en edad escolar que residen dentro de nuestras zonas de asistencia, sin importar su estatus migratorio. Una vez más, esto está garantizado por la ley.
No solicitamos ni registramos información sobre el estatus migratorio de los estudiantes inscritos en Nacogdoches ISD. La información personal de su hijo está protegida… nuevamente, por ley (Código de Educación de EE.UU. § 1232g).
El compromiso de Nacogdoches ISD con nuestros estudiantes y sus familias no ha cambiado.
