Ella Furniss, a senior at Nacogdoches High School, was named a finalist by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) for the group’s Teens Serving Texas Award.
Ella is the daughter of Crystal and Dr. Eddy Furniss.
Students from across the state are nominated by their high school principal based on their overall academic grade point average, pursuit of an advanced diploma and evidence of exceptional service to the community.
Each student nominated then completes an application that includes reference letters, a personal goals essay and documentation of their contributions to the community. From this group of outstanding applicants, 25 are chosen to be finalists for the Teens Serving Texas Award.
Throughout her high school career, Ella has accrued more than 240 service hours to the Nacogdoches community. She is the daughter of Crystal and Dr. Eddy Furniss.
The Teens Serving Texas Award is designed to recognize high school seniors who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of community service, leadership and personal accomplishments.
