It’s back to state for the Golden Dragon Marching Band.
Nacogdoches High School will perform at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, in the preliminary round of the University Interscholastic League Class 5A/6A State Military Marching Band Championship at McLane Stadium on the campus of Baylor University in Waco.
The band earned straight 1s on Oct. 19 in Longview at the Region 21 marching contest, extending a streak of perfect regional performances that stretches back to 1980.
Nacogdoches is one of 12 military marching bands competing in the Class 5A/6A division. Others include Whitehouse, Longview, Kingwood, Lufkin, Ennis, Crosby, Huntsville, Hallsville, Atascocita, Jacksonville and Cleveland.
The announcement of the five finalists will take place at 5 p.m. The 5A/6A finalist performances begin at 8:30 p.m., and awards will be announced at 10 p.m.
