McMichael Middle School’s One-Act Play cast, crew, and directors won first place and six individual awards at the district competition held on Feb. 12 at the Lindale High School Performing Arts Center.
The 17-member team of actors and technicians from McMichael performed “The Staggering Heartbreakup of Jasmine Merriweather,” a comedy by Don Zolidis. It’s the whirlwind story of picking up the pieces of a broken heart following a difficult breakup.
Caden Johnson received Best Performer, while Malachi Anderson, Ava Hopkins, and Ava Tkacik were named to the All-Star Cast. Aaron Boland, Honei Christopher, Evelyn Datin, Alyssa Delgado, and Olivia Schulz received Honorable Mention for the All-Star Cast. Natalie Reyes received Honorable Mention Technician.
The production was directed by McMichael teachers Lauren Bueno and Megan Johnson.
“I was so excited to see this show because I loved the script! So many wonderful moments throughout this production” wrote one of the district judges. “Thank you for the strong ensemble. You are a talented group of actors. You have great talent that I hope goes on to the next grade level with you,” wrote another.
