Nacogdoches High School junior Sasha Gotcher gained Master Certification status in Microsoft Office Specialist programs by earning certifications in Word, Excel, Word Expert and Excel Expert.
For business management instructor Debbie Crenshaw, it’s the first time in her 23 years at NHS that a student has received the Master Certification.
“This is a huge accomplishment,” Crenshaw said. “Someone needs to be ready to hire this student!”
Sasha earned the certifications during a six-week summer program that was part of a grant from Texas Education Agency that provided students an opportunity to take Business Information Management I and Principles of Audio/Video Technology. Both courses satisfy the technology requirement for graduation at NHS, and the grant provided tuition-free enrollment during the summer.
Receiving the industry-recognized Microsoft Office Specialist Certifications benefits students moving onto college or preparing to enter the workforce, Crenshaw said. “The training and certification promotes academic preparedness and demonstrates readiness in the Microsoft Office Software products.”
The Business Information Management program is part of Nacogdoches High School’s Career & Technical Education Department.
