Nacogdoches ISD’s Community Ambassadors met for the first time April 21, receiving an introduction from Superintendent Dr. Gabriel Trujillo and Board of Trustees President Pam Fitch before boarding an NISD Dragon Express bus and touring district facilities.
The Community Ambassadors program is an opportunity to engage with NISD stakeholders while providing additional facts and figures relating to district operations.
During Thursday’s session, members looked over an organizational design and chart then later on heard from key staff on topics such as student and staff safety, COVID task force operations, fine arts, education foundation, career and technical education, Teacher Incentive Allotment and other components of day-to-day operations.
“I’m grateful for this first group, and I hope these sessions will provide a greater understanding of all that’s required to operate a school district of this size and scope,” Trujillo said.
During the next session in May ambassadors will hear information about what goes into staff recruitment, support services and growth, and school funding details.
