Nacogdoches High School again dominated the District 16 Swimming and Diving Championship Tuesday in Lufkin. The women’s team finished with 170 points, easily outdistancing second-place Hudson, which finished with 96. The men’s team totaled 219 points, topping Lufkin’s 120.
The top six finishers in each district event qualified for the regional swim meet that will be held Feb. 4-5 in Lewisville.
Nacogdoches swimmers who won individual district champion medals include the Boys 200-yard Medley Relay of Christian Castleberry, Kaden Packard, Tread Woodard, and Daniel Chandler.
Alister Jackson won the Boys 200 Intermediate and the Boys 100 Freestyle. Chandler was the champion in the Boys 50 Freestyle, and Hannah Richey won the Girls 100 Butterfly. The Boys 200 Freestyle Relay (Chandler, William Hinson, Garrett Schmid, and Jackson) won, and Castleberry was the winner in the 100 Backstroke.
Packard won the 100 Breaststroke, and the Girls 400 Freestyle Relay (Jordan Rankin, Carley Scroggins, Vivyan Nieberding, and Richey) finished first. The Boys 400 Freestyle Relay (Woodard, Hinson, Schmid, and Jackson) also finished first.
