NISD mourns loss of Tammy McDonald, member of district technology staff

Tammy McDonald, a Technology Integration Coordinator who started working at Nacogdoches ISD in 1999, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday.

Ms. McDonald began her career in the district in 1999 as an educational aide. She later returned to school, earning her degree from Stephen F. Austin State University, and went on to serve NISD as a teacher, instructional technologist, and digital learning coordinator. Over the course of 26 years, she dedicated herself to educating both our students and teachers.

She also spent some time helping out at her family’s business, McDonald and Sons Ace Hardware in Timpson. She also spent a year teaching second grade in Timpson ISD.

“We were completely unprepared for this loss,” said Keirsten Morris, NISD’s Director of Technology. “She was more than a valued team member—she was a dedicated educator, a trusted colleague, and a true friend. She always went above and beyond for teachers, staff, and students. Her absence is deeply felt.”
