Eight cosmetology students from Nacogdoches High School are headed to the state competition in April after posting wins over the weekend at the SkillsUSA District 7 contest in Beaumont. Jan Holland is the high school cosmetology teacher.
SeMya Mallard won a gold medal in natural hair care/weaving; Anahi Martinez took silver in nail care; and Alexis Gibbs earned silver in natural hair.
And Cierra Runnels and Meiry Luna will advance on as District 7 SkillsUSA officers.
Cosmetology also had five state-qualified projects advance: Yazmine Russ, Photo Panel; Yareli Otero Lopez, Photo Panel; Andrea Moreno Lara, Photo Panel; Alexis Gibbs, Braiding; and SeMya Mallard, Braiding.
