Fourteen Nacogdoches ISD Community Ambassadors met Thursday, Sept. 19, in the latest cohort of the program that started a little more than two years ago.
The Community Ambassadors program is an opportunity to engage with NISD stakeholders while providing additional facts and figures relating to district operations.
On Thursday, the group met at the District Support Center with NISD Superintendent Dr. Gabriel Trujillo then toured the district’s career and technical education program at the Malcolm Rector Center for Advanced Careers & Innovation, located at Nacogdoches High School.
“I enjoy sharing with these groups a greater understanding of all that’s required to operate a school district of this size and scope,” Trujillo said. “I really want them to see what all goes into holding school and all the wonderful students and staff that make up Nacogdoches ISD.”
At the Malcolm Rector Center, students led the NISD group on tours of classrooms and programs that make the department.
Afterwards, the group returned to the DSC where Deputy Superintendent Michael Martin went through the projects attached to the 2018 bond program.
Erin Windham, Executive Director of the Nacogdoches ISD Education Foundation, described the group’s fundraising efforts. The foundation connects community resources with the needs of the school district in order to support the mission of NISD, funding classroom projects that represent new and innovative methods of education.
This cohort of NISD ambassadors will meet monthly for the remainder of the 2024-25 school year.
