Summer Adams is NISD's new Director of Transportation

Summer Adams has been named Director of Transportation for Nacogdoches ISD and will oversee the district’s school buses that transport more than 3,000 students daily.

For the past year, Adams has been Operations Supervisor in the department. She replaces Stacy Lampkin, who retired at the end of June.

“Ms. Adams has played a key role in the district’s transportation department the last year, and she will now oversee the entire operation of school buses,” said Superintendent Dr. Gabriel Trujillo. “I’m excited about the fresh ideas she brings to the table. Transportation is such a vital part of what we do at NISD; getting students to school safely, ready to learn, and then getting them home – safely – at the end of the day.”

Since coming on board last year, Adams has assisted the director of transportation in the areas of finance, dispatch, safety, routing and maintenance – both for the daily routes responsible for picking up and returning students home and for the trips that transport students for extracurricular activities.

Adams came to Nacogdoches ISD from Pearland, where she was transportation supervisor. Before that, Adams was a route specialist and driver for Dickinson ISD. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
