Charles Zemanek has been named Director of Human Resources for Nacogdoches ISD, moving into the No. 2 role in the department.
For the past two years, Zemanek has been principal at Fredonia Early Childhood Center where the district’s Pre-K program is based. He will be replaced by his assistant, Lindsey Turner, who took over today as campus principal.
“Both of these individuals are key components in our district, and I have no doubt they will excel in their new roles,” said NISD Superintendent Dr. Gabriel Trujillo. “Mr. Zemanek will be a great fit in our HR department. And Ms. Turner will take the success already in place at Fredonia and build upon that in the new school year.
“They will both do an outstanding job for Nacogdoches ISD.”
Zemanek has been with NISD since 2016. He was named Director of Pre-K in 2021 to begin the process of consolidating the early childhood program as well as helping plan the renovation of the Fredonia campus, one of the components of the 2018 bond package approved by NISD voters.
Zemanek is a 2016 graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University with a degree in multidisciplinary studies. In 2019, Zemanek received from Texas A&M University his Masters of Education in Educational Leadership. He’s currently in the final stages of earning a doctorate in educational leadership at Texas A&M.
Turner has been the Early Childhood Coordinator at Fredonia since 2022. Before that, she was assistant principal for five years at Raguet Elementary after serving as a curriculum and instructional coach for three years. She came to the district in 2009 as a third-grade reading and language arts teacher. Turner was named NISD Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2012.
Turner is a 2004 graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, earning a bachelor degree in interdisciplinary studies. She received a Master in Education from SFA in 2007. Turner’s first teaching job was at Huntington ISD, where she also earned District Teacher of the Year honors.
