Kevin Croft will be the next principal at Nacogdoches High School. Croft, who’s currently a principal with Lamar Consolidated ISD in Fort Bend County southeast of Houston, has worked in campus administration at elementary, middle school and high school campuses.
Croft replaces Stephen Autrey, who announced his retirement from NHS in May. Croft’s first day in the district will be July 17.
Croft has a principal certification in Texas for early childhood through 12th-grade. He’s also certified as an English/Language Arts and Reading teacher for grades 8-12. He graduated from Schreiner University in Kerrville, earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the school.
“Mr. Croft is going to be a great fit in Nacogdoches, but he’s also going to bring some new and fresh ideas associated with his unique perspective on education, culled from his wide-ranging experience in administration at elementary, middle school and high school campuses,” said NISD Superintendent Dr. Gabriel Trujillo. “Mr. Autrey has left a strong foundation in place, and I have no doubt Mr. Croft will be able to expand upon that in the coming years.”
Croft’s career began in Junction, Texas, before moving in 2011 to George Ranch High School in Richmond, Texas. After a year as an English teacher at George Ranch, Croft was named assistant principal at the campus. He served as an assistant principal at Polly Ryon Middle School, also in Lamar Consolidated ISD, before being named principal at the campus in 2018. He also served as principal at Lamar Consolidated’s Maxine Phelan Elementary School.
“Throughout my career, one principle has remained constant: positive, strong relationships change all outcomes,” Croft said. “I’m looking forward to getting settled in Nacogdoches and tending to the business of continuing the strong success at NHS."
