Graduation for the Nacogdoches High School Class of 2024 is set for 8 p.m., Friday, May 24, at William R. Johnson Coliseum on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University.
Admission is free, and no ticket is required to enter.
The doors to the coliseum will open at 7 p.m. Graduating seniors must arrive at 7 p.m. and proceed to the holding area. (Appropriate dress requirements are outlined in the Senior Letter and informational flyers provided to all graduating seniors.) Please also note that air horns and balloons are not allowed and will be confiscated at the door.
Project Graduation will take place immediately following graduation. Doors for Project Graduation will open at 11 p.m., and seniors must have pre-registered to attend. The event will end at 3 a.m.
Diploma pick-up will begin 9 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, June 4, in the NHS Commons. Pick-up may be by the student or legal guardian only, and all fines must be paid in order to receive the diploma. Following June 4, students may continue to pick up their diplomas in the NHS Main office throughout the summer.
Before the Class of 2024 graduates on Friday, a number of senior-related activities are slated this week, including Senior Sunset at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at the NHS baseball field.
At 8:15 a.m., Friday, May 24, NHS seniors will gather in the competition gym for a photograph of the entire class. Graduates are to wear their medals, cords and stoles and arrive dressed in their caps and gowns. Late arrivals will not be in the picture.
Following the photo, a required graduation practice will be held at 9:30 a.m. at William R. Johnson Coliseum. Students are encouraged to dress comfortably, while bringing a light jacket, as it is frequently chilly in the facility. Girls are also asked to bring the shoes they plan to wear in the evening to practice walking (there are many stairs to navigate).
The practice on Friday should be completed around noon.
