The stage is set for a gripping rendition at Nacogdoches High School of “The Scottish Tragedy,” an adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” written by Gloria and Azure McLuckie. The NHS Theatre Department, under the direction of Victoria Perry and Amanda Abbott, performed the work for One-Act Play last month, earning a berth in the bi-district competition.
The performances here in Nacogdoches are scheduled for 7 p.m., Thursday, April 4, Friday, April 5, and Saturday, April 6, in the NHS auditorium. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with tickets available for $5.
The cast brings performances from Brianna Hightower as Lady Macbeth, Mars McIntosh as Macbeth, Isabelle Clay in the roles of Lady Macduff and Messenger, and Ian Lawrence as the Porter. Additionally, Kylar Bowden, Peyton Lewis, and Jamie Gibson take on the roles of the Witches, with Grady Hart, Lourdes Leon, Rees Runnels, Grayson Rhoden, Riley Hall, and Jacob Norman rounding out the cast in various roles.
Behind the scenes, the crew ensures that every detail is precisely executed. Samantha McQuade leads the technical team as the Senior Lead Tech & Lights, with William Vermeulen assisting as the Assistant Lead Tech & Sound. Ian Lawrence manages the LED lighting backstage, while Maite Cano, Melanie Garcia, and Bryan Martinez work tirelessly as part of the backstage crew.
