Livia Whitaker finished second in both the 200-yard individual medley and 100 fly races to earn a berth in the Class 5A State Swimming & Diving Meet. Whitaker joined Jocelyne Lopez, Miki Puffer and Carley Scroggins on the third place NHS girls 200 medley relay that received a call-up to the state meet.
The Dragons finished third overall in the regional meet held at the New Caney ISD Natatorium.
Whitaker, a freshman on the NHS team, was an automatic qualifier for the state meet in both individual events based on her second place finishes. The 200 medley relay was a call-up for the state meet.
The Class 5A State Swimming & Diving Meet will be held Feb. 23-24 at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin.
