Texas Department of Transportation and Department of State Health Services were on hand Wednesday at Emeline Carpenter Elementary for the school’s sixth-annual car seat drive. By mid-morning, seven car seats had been installed and four more were expected to arrive by lunch.
Organized by Carpenter social worker Kiesha McClendon, the drive is an opportunity to emphasize car safety for families of students.
Joining McClendon Wednesday were Kaci Kelley, a social work intern and Stephen F. Austin State University student, Melissa McKnight and Jacee Berry from TxDOT, and Leasa Robinson and Juliana Castillo from DSHS.
