Installation of new turf at Dragon Stadium is nearing completion. Crews with Hellas Construction Inc. have been working overnight the last two weeks to avoid the worst of the summer heat.
In May, the eight-year-old artificial turf at Dragon Stadium was damaged by the heavy rains that caused flooding in Nacogdoches. That same month, NISD trustees approved the repairs at the stadium.
Earlier this year, the interior of the press box at Dragon Stadium was renovated, part of the 2018 bond election. In the coming weeks, a second press box will be installed on the east side of the stadium for use by visiting coaches.
Additionally, the parking lot located on the home side of the stadium was resurfaced over the summer. At Nacogdoches High School located adjacent to the stadium, the parking lot located next to Appleby Sand Road was also resurfaced.
