Health Services Overview

To strengthen and facilitate the educational process by providing services that contribute to a student's achievement and/or maintenance of optimal health.

The School Nurse:

  • Serves as the child's advocate.

  • Provides specialized health care.

  • Assesses and evaluates individual growth and development.

  • Services as a liaison between parents, physicians, and community agencies.

  • Monitors student immunizations.

  • Evaluates and monitors communicable diseases and implements strategies to prevent the spread of disease.

  • Conducts health screenings.

  • Conducts health related classroom instruction.

  • Member of special education teams, working with children with special needs.

  • Acts as a resource for faculty, parents and students.

Vaccine Clinics

Nacogdoches ISD will hold its flu shot clinic for students on the following days (all times are 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. except at Nettie Marshall, where times will be 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.). Parents of all elementary students must attend with their child. Secondary students can have the shot without a parent as long as a parent has completed the paperwork and signatures are in place.

Student forms can be found at the bottom of this webpage. All student forms should be returned to the school nurse no later than Sept. 24.

For those currently insured, there is no out-of-pocket expense for the flu shot. Please bring a copy of insurance card.

For those with no insurance, the cost is $5 for age 18 and under.

All vaccine clinics for faculty and staff are scheduled for 7:00am-9:00am and students are scheduled for 9:00am-11:00am.
