Seven Nacogdoches High School culinary students cooked up an outstanding performance Feb. 15 at the SkillsUSA district competition in Beaumont.
Jhanay Henry and Brittney Mendoza finished second to earn a state berth in wedding cake decorating.
Timothy Sparks, Janet West, Ta’Zaria Deckard, Ingrid Cruz, Sharlyn Cisneros and Brittney Mendoza are also headed for state in cake decorating and baking projects.
Other NHS competitors in the culinary contest included Halle Davis, who placed third in savory competition. Caiden Sullivan and Timothy Sparks also competed in the division.
Joanna Chavez and Jazlyn Marroquin entered the wedding cake decorating competition. Lillian Koenig, Bryana Garrett and Jewels Polley participated in cake decorating and baking projects.
The culinary classes at NHS are taught by Leslie Bortz and Suzanne Duncan.
