Spring 2020 Grading Guidelines

Spring 2020 Grading GuidelinesNacogdoches ISD has posted an updated grading procedure that applies to the 5th- and 6th-six week grading periods and the spring semester of the 2019-2020 academic year. Instead of assigning numerical grades we’re all accustomed to, the procedure will use a pass/fail method to assess student work completed in the 5th- and 6th-six week grading periods.
Please be sure to closely read the new procedure; it applies to all NISD students but there are differences between high school, middle school and elementary levels. The procedure also includes information on grade point averages for high school students as well as class rank for our seniors.
The new procedure is an attempt by NISD to ease concerns over what grades look like for the second semester in light of the extended school closure brought on by the COVID-19 crisis. We realize the ongoing distance learning efforts are challenging for all involved… teachers, students and parents. All of us have adjusted to these changes while making the best of the situation during what can only be called less than ideal circumstances.
The changes to the grading procedure reflect the best of intentions on behalf of NISD, campus administrators and teachers. We also understand there will be questions. Please refer to contacts you might have on hand for the campuses or go to the NISD website (nacisd.org) and select “Phone Contacts For Campuses and Other Departments.” That link can be found in the middle of the homepage.
