New DSC opening after Spring Break

When Nacogdoches ISD returns from Spring Break, the district’s headquarters will be open at its new location at 4632 NE Stallings Dr.

During the school holiday, crews will be moving equipment and office materials to the new District Support Center. The district purchased the former Burke facility following the successful 2018 bond election, and during the past year the facility was renovated prior to the move-in.

The new location will provide plenty of space for NISD administrators and staff, including additional meeting rooms, something in short supply around the district.

“This will greatly improve our staff’s ability to work through projects and do what the name of the building suggests, ‘support’ the district,” said Superintendent Dr. Gabriel Trujillo. “These folks work year round, providing services that furnish the assistance necessary for a public school district to function properly in 2021.

“We’re grateful for the voters of this school district that overwhelmingly supported the bond campaign in 2018. Without them and their foresight, we would not have been able to do this.”

NISD plans on an open house in the upcoming months, possibly this summer, depending on the status of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The total cost of the renovation project at the new DSC was $2,293,875, which came in below the amount budgeted in the 2018 bond proposal.
