NISD administrators and officials from the Region 7 Education Service Center were also on hand Monday and Tuesday.

Alton Frailey, NISD’s interim Superintendent, Board of Trustee president Pam Fitch and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Daya Hill welcomed the new staff.

Teachers then divided into elementary and secondary groups and alternated between instruction periods on TEKS Resources, and Google Tools for the classroom.

Orientation sessions on Tuesday included gradebook/classroom technology, assessment/accountability, curriculum/DMAC, English as a Second Language and Student Support Services.

The teachers also received training in the CHAMPS 1 discipline model used by the district.

On Wednesday and Thursday, new teachers are on their respective campuses for further orientation ahead of a workday for all teachers on Friday, Aug. 10.

The first day of classes in NISD is Monday, Aug. 27.
