Friday's game canceled after Hallsville forfeit

Hallsville High School has forfeited its District 9-5A game with Nacogdoches High School planned for Friday, Nov. 20, because of COVID-19.

The Nacogdoches varsity team will next play at 5 p.m., Friday, Nov. 27, when Texas High visits Dragon Stadium. (The kickoff time for that game was moved up because of the holiday break.)

Because of the forfeit win over Hallsville, Nacogdoches improves its district record to 3-2 and its overall mark to 4-3.

Tickets for the Texas High home game will go on sale next week. A link can be found on the NISD athletic website by CLICKING HERE. Tickets this season are sold only online.

NHS head football coach Darren Allman said Monday his staff was attempting to line up games on Thursday for Dragon freshmen and junior varsity teams.

An outdoor pep rally planned for 9 a.m. Friday (following second period) will still be held at Dragon Stadium with varsity football, cheerleaders, drill team, band and NHS seniors only in attendance. Parents of seniors can also attend.

Nacogdoches will wrap up its football regular season on Friday, Dec. 4, with a game at Marshall High School. The winner of that game will qualify for the Class 5A, Division II playoffs.
