#DragonNation Spirit Continues Strong throughout District

#DragonNation Spirit Continues Strong throughout District

Good morning. I enjoyed spending some time last Friday night watching our athletes, spirit squads and band at the first football game of the season with a strong win against Kilgore!  I am looking forward to another big win at tonight’s blackout game as our Dragons BEAT the Panthers.  I am so proud of the #DragonNation spirit I felt in the crowd and enjoyed meeting so many people who support our schools and students. Every year these events remind me of the importance of co-curricular and extracurricular activities to the success of our students. While we are focused on providing the best possible education in the core academics, I think these other activities are important to the success of our students.

On the first day of school last week I was pleased to visit several of our campuses. As I said at convocation, I have found lots of hope and enthusiasm throughout the district and am excited to lead us this year as we plan a clear course to improve our academic performance and discipline.  Don’t be afraid of change, it is leading us to a new beginning as we celebrate our victories and share our challenges.  You are the team that has been chosen to pave the way to success.  I appreciate each of you for your commitment and dedication to our NISD students and families.

More than 200 local community members welcomed our teachers and students back to school with our 2nd “NISD Welcome Crew” and I am happy to report all students were delivered safely home.   Through team work and dedication, we saw improvement every day in our drop-off and pick-up lines.  Our campus leaders, PEIMS teams, counselors and central office are working hard to level classes this week. I appreciate your patience as they work through this process.

We must believe every student is an important individual and is critical to the success of our schools.   Everything we do, every day will be focused on our priorities and the students we serve.  As we settle into our daily routines, remember I am available to you if you have any questions or concerns.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me when you need help!  I want NISD to be a place where we respect, value and support each other – It’s Time!

Thank you again for all your hard work and congratulations on a successful first two weeks, well done!  I hope each of you enjoy the holiday weekend and have time to relax and enjoy the extra day off.  Now let’s go #DragonNation – Beat the Pack!
