Josh Roy’s project, “Photodegradation of Hydrocarbons,” was recognized in March by the U.S. Metric Association for best use of the international system of units, and the American Chemistry Association awarded Roy with the Outstanding Chemistry Project award, which includes a cash prize. He was also awarded another cash prize from Suddenlink for outstanding research in energy. Roy, a member of the STEM Academy at Nacogdoches High School , is a senior and will graduate May 31.

With his win at the regional science fair in March for the best overall project at ETRSF, Roy secured automatic advancement to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair taking place this week in Phoenix, Ariz. 

Roy is in Phoenix with NHS physics teacher Jason Ray.
